Ethel Lee Nixon (Calhoun), 87, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024 with her beloved Granddaughter Christina Nixon by her side. Early that morning her late husband, James W. Nixon, and late son, Robert Lee Nixon, ushered her to heaven. Ethel was born on May 10, 1937 in Prattville, AL to the late John Calhoun and Emma Mae Williams.

She is survived by four (4) grandchildren, thirteen (13) great grandchildren, and nine (9) great great grandchildren: Robert Lee Nixon, Jr., his children and grandchildren, Tre’nell Nixon, Dante’ Silva, Kyara Lee Nixon, Denzel Robert Nixon, Kehlani Bella, and Denzel Jr; Christina Nixon and her daughter Bre’Anna J. Metts- Nixon; Marc Trevor Nixon, wife Veronica Nixon, children and grandchildren, Marc-kee Hull, Cedric Hull, Astarria Mclain, Zayila Unice Howie- Nixon, Donte Mclain, Marque Charmaine Howie- Nixon, Elaina Lorraine, Zentonio, Rayelle, Rue, Cedric Jr., Ramelle, Raheem, Raina, Marc-kee Jr.; and Demetrius Sims and his son Demetrius Jr. Ethel was loved by many including her goddaughter, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Ethel, or as her family referred to her, G, was a straight shooter, direct, yet loving, funny, encouraging, and full of life. Those who knew her know she loved her gospel, especially Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC’s. Ethel L. Nixon was an integral part of her family, a loyal member of her church community, and an advent gospel singer. For fun, she enjoyed thrift shopping, going to the casino, and spending time with her family and friends.

We will remember Ethel for her ability to turn your frown upside down and to never shy away from her truth. Yes, Mrs. Nixon was cooler than the other side of Lee Williams pillow. Like Lee Williams, Ethel learned to lean and depend on Jesus all the way until the end of her blessed life. She will never be forgotten.

Memorial services will be held at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Burial private. Repast services will be held at Maranatha Food Pantry of Church of God - Food Distribution Center at 1040 Atwells Ave, Providence, RI 02909 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm following the service.
